We have a track-record of creating excellent work with older people including productions toured to lunch/social clubs and sheltered housing venues, and inter-generational participatory projects.
In December 2017 we worked with members of the Arcola 50+ theatre group to create seasonal entertainment. The “Ageing Festively” show was toured to lunch/social clubs and sheltered accommodation venues across Hackney, reaching almost 300 people, many of whom seldom get the opportunity to see live performances.
Throughout the process we worked with a film maker, Bhavesh Hindocha, who produced a film which was shared through an installation designed by Pip Nash, at Dalston CLR James Library. Originally scheduled to run from 12th – 21st December the project was extended, remaining in the library until 5th January 2018 and reaching thousands of local people.
This has proved a very successful partnership project revealing the capacity older people have to create excellent and entertaining performances which can reach isolated members of the community.
We are now collecting stories from the community to develop a new performance “Those Long Hot Summers”, which will be performed in July 2018. We are also planning ahead for our next winter performance and developing the project to enable community groups to get more involved in the creative process.
