About Hackney Social Audio

HSA is a new monthly podcast, bringing different generations and communities together to talk, create and deepen understanding. The hour-long show will be released on the 1st of every month, and a bonus shorts selection will be live on the 15th of every month.

In this month’s edition of Hackney Social Audio, we delve into Hackney’s past with Stoke Newington Historian, Amir Dotan. We sit down with former Mayor, Kenrick Hanson and visit Dalston Den for the opening of ‘This Is Us’ exhibition. And we hear two new radio plays, written by members of Immediate Theatre’s, Theatre Exchange.

For this month’s shorts selection, we have a piece about Norman Levinson and Shirley Mugraff who were evacuated from Hackney during the Second World War. A wonderful audio play from our Kingsmead Youth Theatre in response to Nine Night by Natasha Gordon. And Leo Dunlop’s extended interview with Amir Dotan - aka The Stoke Newington Historian.
