Legacy Street

Details

  • 17th November 2011

A project linking secondary school students and youth groups from across Tower Hamlets, who will spend the early part of 2012 working together on a media project to counter notions of territorialism and post-code rivalry.
Now in its third year, and funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Legacy Street will see young people creating online videos on perceptions of theirs and others' areas; interacting through online blogs, viewing and commenting on each others work online.

The young film makers will also interview people from, and working in, the community on their perceptions of 'their space'.

The project will begin to go online in January, leading to an 'Oskars' awards event at Rich Mix Arts Centre, Bethnal Green at the end of March.

Young people will be engaging from the following secondary schools and projects:
George Green, Langdon Park and St.Paul's Way Schools
The Space, and Eastide Youth projects
